Chumpi Stone Healing in Hampshire: Honouring an Ancient Andean Healing Tradition

Ancient wisdom. Modern healing.

There are moments in life when we feel called to slow down, reconnect, and remember who we truly are beneath the demands of everyday life. For me, Chumpi Stone Healing has become one of those pathways—a sacred Andean healing tradition that has profoundly shaped both my personal journey and the way I support others.

I feel deeply honoured to have been taught and mentored by Maestro Don Alejandro Apaza, one of the world’s most respected Chumpi Stone healers and a dedicated guardian of this remarkable Andean lineage. Through both online and in-person training, I have had the privilege of learning directly from him, receiving teachings that extend far beyond technique and into a way of living that honours the Earth, Spirit, community, and the wisdom of our ancestors.

Today, it is my privilege to offer Chumpi Stone Healing in Hampshire, sharing this beautiful ceremonial practice with clients who feel called to experience the restorative wisdom of the Andes.

The Apaza Family Lineage – Preserving Sacred Wisdom

The Chumpi Stone tradition has been lovingly preserved through generations of the Apaza family in the Peruvian Andes. Like many Indigenous traditions, this knowledge was never intended to exist only in books. Instead, it has been passed from elder to student through ceremony, observation, prayer, experience, and relationship.

This is living wisdom.

The teachings encompass far more than working with sacred stones. They invite us into an entirely different way of seeing the world—one where mountains are living beings, rivers carry wisdom, the Earth is a conscious presence, and healing is found through restoring harmony in our relationships with ourselves, our communities, nature, and Spirit.

One of the greatest gifts Maestro Don Alejandro Apaza shares with his students is the understanding that these teachings are not something to own; they are something to steward with humility and respect. As practitioners, we are invited to become caretakers of an ancient tradition while always honouring its origins and the lineage through which it has been shared.

In many ways, this work is not about learning something new—it is about remembering something ancient.

My Journey with Maestro Don Alejandro Apaza

Studying directly with Maestro Don Alejandro Apaza has been one of the greatest honours of my life.

Over the years I have trained with him both online and in person, allowing the teachings to unfold gradually through mentorship, ceremony, and personal practice. This ongoing relationship has given me a deep appreciation for the richness of the tradition and the responsibility that comes with sharing it.

Alejandro teaches from lived experience and ancestral knowledge, encouraging his students to approach the Chumpi stones with reverence rather than expectation. His teachings remind us that intention, presence, humility, and relationship are every bit as important as the stones themselves.

It is also my great joy to organise retreats in Petersfield, Hampshire, where Maestro Don Alejandro Apaza joins us to teach his students in person. These retreats offer a rare opportunity to receive authentic Andean teachings directly from the lineage holder while immersing yourself in ceremony, community, and personal transformation.

Watching students deepen their connection to these teachings under Alejandro’s gentle guidance is incredibly moving. His warmth, generosity, humour, and unwavering commitment to preserving his family’s ancestral wisdom create a truly unique learning environment.

These retreats have become a place where ancient wisdom meets modern life, offering participants the opportunity to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and experience the heart of Andean spirituality in a supportive and welcoming community.

What Are Chumpi Stones?

Chumpi stones are traditional Andean healing stones, traditionally hand-carved from alabaster and used ceremonially within this sacred healing tradition.

Each set contains seven stones, with each stone identified by the number of carved points it bears. The first stone has one point, the second has two, continuing through to the seventh stone with seven points.

Within the tradition, these stones are far more than beautiful carved objects. They are regarded as sacred ceremonial tools that support prayer, intention, energetic harmony, and spiritual remembrance.

What Happens During a Chumpi Stone Healing Session?

During a Chumpi Stone Healing session, the stones are placed on energetic centres known as Ñawis. Although they are sometimes compared to chakras to help explain their function, Ñawis are unique to the Andean cosmology and hold their own profound significance.

Working with focused intention, prayer, and ceremony, the stones are used in a way that, according to the tradition, interacts with the client’s energetic field. This process is intended to illuminate areas where energy may feel heavy, stagnant, or out of balance, gently inviting greater harmony and flow.

Throughout the session, archetypal energies are invited to support the work.

The stones are asked to cleanse energetic debris before bands of energetic protection are ceremonially woven around the client using the Chumpi stones themselves. This sacred energetic weaving is one of the most distinctive and beautiful aspects of the tradition, symbolising protection, integration, and the restoration of balance.

Every session unfolds differently because every individual arrives with their own unique story and experiences. Some clients leave feeling deeply relaxed, while others describe a profound sense of clarity, emotional release, or reconnection with themselves.

The Importance of Remembering

One of the teachings that has touched me most deeply is the idea of remembrance.

The Andean tradition reminds us that wisdom is not something we need to chase—it already lives within us. Through ceremony, prayer, relationship with nature, and quiet reflection, we begin to remember what has always been there beneath the noise of modern life.

In today’s fast-paced world, this feels more important than ever.

We spend so much time looking outward for answers that we can forget to listen inwardly. Chumpi Stone Healing offers an opportunity to pause, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the quiet wisdom that emerges when we create space for stillness.

Whether experienced as a spiritual practice, a complementary wellbeing modality, or simply a chance to rest deeply, the ceremony invites us back into relationship—with ourselves, with the Earth, and with the sacred rhythms of life.
